Compassionate Critical Care

Our Highest Priority


The Air Med crew is a team of compassionate critical care flight RNs and paramedics, held to the same notable standards as our highly accredited Acadian Ambulance Service division. Crew members transport adult, pediatric and neonatal patients.

Extensive treatment protocol includes:

  • Stroke care
  • Acute coronary syndrome treatment
  • Advanced trauma life support
  • Rapid sequence induction using operating room procedures

For emergency flights, nationally certified paramedics, registered nurses and licensed emergency physicians are available.

Indications for transport and suggested patients:

  • Major trauma whose clinical conditions require minimal time spent in transport and out of a hospital environment
  • Critical injuries such as overdose, preeclampsia or acute pulmonary failure that require transport by the fastest available method to a hospital 30 minutes driving distance or more
  • Patients who require a high level of care during transport such as surgical emergencies, stroke, or those in post cardiac arrest
  • Severe poisoning or overdose


  • Full complement of advanced life support drugs
  • Monitors and external pacemakers
  • Ventilators and medication pumps
  • Blood products
  • Gastrointestinal hemorrhages with hemodynamic compromise
  • Near drowning with any history of loss of consciousness, respiratory problems or unstable vision
  • Severe electrolyte imbalances or metabolic disturbances
  • Potentially life-threatening ingestion of or exposure to a toxic substance
  • Potentially life-threatening infections, including sepsis
